Dettori happy to help Olympic flame keep burning at Ascot

Frankie Dettori "will never forget" the day he carried the Olympic torch at Ascot racecourse.

Ascot's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes is shaping up into a cracking contest with Brown Panther confirmed as on target for the race.

The Elaine Burke-trained course-and-distance winner needs just three to come out above him in the handicap at tomorrow's final declaration stage to get in the prestigious contest.

Irish trainer David Nagle is one person who does not want the weather to take a sudden turn for his improving sprinter Maarek.

He is back in England for the chrisbeekracing.com Stakes (registered as the Hackwood Stakes) at Newbury and conditions look like being ideal once more for the soft-ground lover.
