Determined Dubs keep on raising Blue Banner

PLEASANT reading of a Monday morning - Dublin on top of the Division 1 League.

What do you think of that .......... Joe Brolly!

The Dubs returned from Clare with a prized 1-13 to 1-11 victory. They'll welcome Cork to Parnell Park next Sunday.

It's now two from two for the Blues, having toppled Derry in their opening fixture.

Cork are joint top, having beaten Clare and Kilkenny.

Sunday's victory will fill Dublin with confidence. It was hard earned. Clare reached last season's Division 1 final.

Louise O'Hara got the vital goal, meeting Ali Maguire's delivery with a velvet touch.

Maguire was majestic at centre half-back. Rose Collins at full-back was as solid as the banks of the Shannon.

SAVES

Sile Nic Coitir made some tidy saves. Aine Fanning, at centre half-forward, was opening envelopes all afternoon.

Aisling Carolan made some terrific bursts forward. Siobhan Kehoe underlined her class once again. Grainne Quinn too.

But it was team-work, and grit, that won the day.

The hour just sizzled along. Cracking camogie. Nip and tuck.

Six points each at the oranges. Chloe Morey was brilliant for the Banner.

She brought them back into it with a goal. But Dublin didn't buckle.

Instead, they tied their laces even tighter and got on with the job.

A strong bench was a key factor. Dublin have strength in depth.

Cork is another step up. All-Ireland champs in town. The red carpet will be out for a Mother's Day treat.
