Condon worry for Limerick

LIMERICK hurlers are sweating on the fitness of corner-back Tom Condon for Sunday's daunting All-Ireland quarter-final duel with Kilkenny.

Condon was forced off with a knee injury during their qualifier win over Clare and, while he has resumed light training this week, he looks an unlikely starter.

"The only injury concern is Tom Condon. He twisted his knee and it is swollen. There was no need to go for an operation, just intensive physio, but it's a race against time," explained Limerick liaison officer Joe Hannon. More positively, Declan Hannon and Kevin Downes are pushing for starting berths.

GALWAY hurling boss Anthony Cunningham believes Cyril Donnellan will be fit for their All-Ireland semi-final on August 12 despite chipping a bone in his arm. "He should be fine. It's restricting his hurling at the moment, but that should clear up and we expect to have him for the semi-final," said Cunningham of the in-form attacker.

CARLOW are now on the lookout for two new senior managers after Kevin Ryan brought the curtain down on his four-year reign in charge of the Barrowide hurlers. Luke Dempsey had already quit as football boss after their qualifier exit.
