Brady best of Irish

AT the Antrim International held around the Greenmount campus, Mullingar's Liam Brady finished 14th in a senior men's race dominated by African athletes with Thomas Ayekoe of Uganda retaining the title he had won a year earlier.

Brady was part of an Irish development team; with John Eves of DSD finishing 22nd,  and Bohermeen's Darragh Rennicks 23rd. The team ended up in fourth place.

In the women's junior race, Hope Saunders of Clonliffe finished eighth. Behind her in 18th place was Rhona Pierce who, a week earlier, had beaten her for the senior girls' title at the All-Ireland Schools' Championships. The team finished fifth with England the victors.
