CIVIL SERVICE

THE Club AGM will take place on Wednesday February 4th in Islandbridge. The evening will start with training at 7pm followed by the AGM at approximately at 8:30pm. In terms of training, we are starting earlier than last year but the plan is to ramp up over the coming weeks so the first sessions will be light and brisk but picking up a head of steam as the start of the league campaign closes in. Don't forget boots and helmets. All current and new players are encouraged to attend the AGM. Our former members are equally welcome, particularly those who might have an interest in assisting the club in some way on or off the pitch during the year or even if you just want to keep in touch with the club. The outgoing committee hasn't been idle over winter. Plans are well advanced for the annual club weekend away with our international squad heading for Brussels on weekend of 21st February. Anyone interested in travelling that hasn't already booked should contact the current chairman, Conor Bracken. We will have more info on that trip in these notes in the weeks ahead. We are looking to the possibility of challenge games over the next couple of weekends to get us ready for league fixtures beginning in March.

CLANNA GAEL FONTENOY

THE large numbers out training at all age levels is a real sign that the new season is well and truly underway. And it won't be long before the various league and other competitions get into full swing. New players are most welcome at all times and the Club Directory for the various team contacts is on the website - http://clannagaelfontenoy.ie/. The various team coaches are also busy preparing for the new season and many of them recently benefited from a fantastic presentation and coaching session by Paudie O'Neill as part of the valuable Le Chéile Programme put together by the club's Orlaith Curran. On the coaching team with the Tipperary senior hurlers, as a Clonmel man O'Neill has represented his county at minor and U21 levels and played senior hurling with Dublin; and the benefit of his experience was plain to be seen. Congratulations to Pat Kane and to Dean Gannon - the latest in the line of Clanns representatives to proudly 'fly the flag' on the bigger stage. Pat Kane has been invited to manage the Dublin U16 Girls' Football Squad, while Dean Gannon has played his way onto the Dublin Minor Football Panel. Finally, the following numbers drawn on the 26th January did not produce a Club Lotto winner for the jackpot of €6,000 - 15, 25, 31 and 32.
