BALLYBODEN ST ENDA'S

BALLYBODEN ST ENDA'S

CONGRATULATIONS to our U15 hurlers, who overcame Lucan in their League Final. This win continues their winning streak as they have now completed the double - Championship and League winner. Congrats to all involved. Congratulations to Ballyboden St Enda's minor A football team who overcame Castleknock, which advances them to the Championship semi-final. Our minor B footballers and our senior hurlers Division 4 all won their matches. Well done to all involved. A big thank you to everyone who organised the 2014 Gala Dinner at the Red Cow at the weekend. Great night had by all. It's that time of the year again when each section AGM are scheduled. Please log onto www.bodengaa.ie for more information and dates of AGM. There was no winner of this week's Lotto. Fr Jimmy Murphy from Carmelite Community was the weekly winner. BALLYMUN KICKHAMS

HARD luck to our U14s, who were beaten in the Cup Final on Saturday and to our minor footballers, who bowed out of Championship over the weekend too. Our U16s live to fight another day as they drew after extra-time with Syls in the League Final. Keep an eye out for the fixture please. Our Club Mass for deceased members is on this Saturday at 5.30pm in the clubhouse and all are welcome. This follows the final of the John Roche Tournament at 2.30pm in Pairc Ciceam. Saturday also sees the final nursery of 2014, and there will be a festive scene set. Also, the Club Calendar for 2014 will be on sale there and is also available from all team mentors. But sadly, all the above news fades into insignificance with the tragic news we received last Saturday evening of the sudden passing of Declan Conlon. Declan was a fervent supporter of the club at all levels, a friend to all, and in fact had just returned home from supporting the U16 team in the League Final. We are all shocked and deeply saddened by this profound tragedy and the Executive Committee would like to offer our sympathies, on behalf of all our members and friends, to Adrienne, Darragh and Gavin at this tremendously difficult time. Ar Dheis De go raibh a hAnaim. We will publish details of the arrangements as they become known.

BEANN EADAIR

DEEPEST condolences to the family of former chairperson Peadar MacCanna, who passed away last week. As well as a community leader, Peadar has been a central figure at the club for more than a decade and will be hugely missed. A former chairman of the GAA All-Stars selection committee, only 2 weeks ago Peadar was inducted into the Friends of Dublin Hurling Hall Of Fame. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dílis. The Lotto numbers were 1-15-20-27. There was no winner and the Jackpot is now €5,650. The Christmas Dinner is on December 6th at Howth Yacht Club. Club Awards take place on the morning of December 6th and Santa visits on December 13th.

CASTLEKNOCK

IT was yet another historic weekend for the club, with the adult hurlers gaining promotion to Division 2, and senior status for the very first time, after a really tough win against local rivals St Peregrine's. Well done also to our minor B footballers, who won their Championship quarter-final against Crumlin, also on Sunday morning. Loads of support is needed this Wednesday in the 12th Lock when our first team footballers take on Lucan Sarsfields in the Division 2 promotion semi-final. Throw-in at 7.45pm. GMT have moved for the winter months, now meeting every Tuesday and Thursday in the Carpenter Car Park at 6:30pm. All new members of any level are welcome as always. The Nursery is on every Saturday morning at 10am in Somerton, with the Club Shop also open at the same time. All new families and players are welcome. National Club Draw tickets and 2015 club calendars are now on sale in the shop. Tickets for The Cube Fundraiser on 5th December in Westmanstown are now on sale. See the website for full details. Hard luck to the U13 boys, who lost their Division 2 Football Play-off Final against Clontarf after extra-time. Please continue to send in all tax donation and bond scheme forms for the Clubhouse Fund, as we look to push on after the awarding of the sports capital grant recently. There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot, which now stands at €6,200.

CLANNA GAEL FONTENOY

CONGRATULATIONS to Clanns players David Lyons, Ricky Joyce and Joe Hennessy, who have all been nominated for the Grassroots GAA, Irish Sun Club Awards in football and to Niall O'Regan who has been nominated in hurling. The winners will be announced at an Awards Night on the 6th of December. Congratulations also to our young hurlers, Seamus Mc Cann and Colm Kirby O'Briain, who recently represented South Dublin against Cork at U13 level in a game which finished 4-13 apiece. Off the field of play, Conor Dodd proudly flew the flag for the club in receiving an Irish Water Safety award for using the club defibrillator to save the life of a jogger in Sean Moore Park earlier in the year. So far, 40 different boys between the ages of 12-16 years have engaged in the Play to Stay programme and participated in a games experience at the Super Games Centre in the club. Anyone who wants is still welcome to come and play. It's still not too late for boys to participate in the programme, which consists of one hour of Gaelic Football games every Friday evening from 6.30pm - for all playing levels, club and non-club members alike. Activity usually starts with a fun game to get warmed up followed by three 15-minute games. At the end of the programme, regular participants will be taken to Croke Park to enjoy playing games against other Super Games Centres from around Ireland. Finally, it's most certainly a case of hard luck for our U21 footballers, who hosted Round Towers of Clondalkin in the Championship at the weekend. While everyone, including the Round Towers contingent, believed Clanns were victorious by two points at the final whistle, the referee insisted it was a draw and played extra-time, which the visitors eventually won.

CLONTARF

TOTW goes to our adult hurlers, gaining promotion to Division 4 after a tensely-fought battle with Kilmacud on P35 last Sunday. Joint managers of the month is our very own Troika, comprising of Mick Keane, John Troy and Chico Teeling. Special thanks to Chico, who steps down after years of loyal service. MOTM is awarded to Stokesy, following a powerful display in midfield. Huge congrats also to our U13 squad, who followed up their winning of Division 2 in hurling by completing the double. They defeated Castleknock in the Division 2 Football Final after extra-time. There were great performances on the day from Cian Mulligan, Barry Mangan and goalie Kevin Bohan. We look forward to further success from this group of players in the coming years. The club is holding our Adult Players Award night this coming Saturday night. We invite all our player and their partners to come down to celebrate our great successes in 2014. The Club AGM takes place on Friday December the 5th at 8pm. CUALA

CONGRATULATIONS to the senior footballers, who won their AFL2 play-off semi-final against Round Towers. The moving of the game to Bray Emmets' ground due to a waterlogged Hyde Park didn't faze the Dalkey men, who ran out 0-16 to 0-7 winners and will take on either Castleknock or Lucan in the Final. Best of luck to our AFL5 footballers, who take on Round Towers in the AFL5 play-off semi-final next Sunday at 11am. Venue to be confirmed. The weather continues to play havoc with the fixture list. Among the Cuala games called off were all last week's U21 fixtures.
