Athy face Salesian test after big upset

LAST year's runners-up Confey College are out as holders Patrician College look for another Lucan scalp in the Leinster Senior Boys Cup.

The flagship competition in the boys section has reached the last-16 stage and the surprises just keep coming.

Ardscoil na Trionóide, Athy, are the latest team to claim a big scalp, beating Confey 3-1.

That result means they now face another Kildare side in the third round, Salesian College, who have a good pedigree of success at this level.

Lucan CC earned a last-16 crack at the defending champions thanks to their 5-1 victory over Castleknock College, while Kilkenny CBS beat Cabinteely CS to set-up a clash with St Colmcille's CS.

Wexford CBS must wait for the outstanding last-32 clash of St Michael's College and Palmerstown CS, while St Aiden's and St Paul's, North Brunswick Street will face-off.

St Paul's College, Raheny, beat Vincent's, Glasnevin, 7-1 to set-up a mouthwatering clash with 2012 winners Malahide College.

Coláiste Eanna take on Old Bawn in the final last-16 tie.
