A Little Book of gems

THE Little Book of GAA Facts is full of gems and jewels.

There's the tale of Mick Gill who won two All-Ireland Senior Championship medals with two different counties in the same year.

There's the achievement of Jack Lynch, who is the only player in history to have won six successive All-Ireland finals (five in hurling).

Down beneath the Shandon bells, it was little wonder they called him 'The Real Taoiseach'.

Then there was last year's All-Ireland final replay between Clare and Cork, which was the first All-Ireland final to be played under lights.

That came exactly 100 years after Croke Park was purchased.

The book is packed with charming stories, interesting facts and records. Eddie Ryan is the author. He lives in Templemore in Tipperary. He's the sports-writer for 'Ireland's Own'.

It's published by Mercier Press. It costs €6.99. It's also available on eBook format from the usual outlets.
