Slavery flag can no longer be flown

A debate is currently raging in the US about whether or not it is appropriate to fly the Confederate flag. It's odd to see so many people passionately engaged in a debate in which one side is demonstrably wrong. The flag may mean many things to many in that country. It may symbolise jazz, gumbo, bluegrass and barbecue. But no matter how you slice it, it also represents the attempt to continue and develop an economy based on the slavery and exploitation of black people. That overwhelms every other meaning. The swastika had meanings for Celts, Romans, Hindus, Buddhists and more. But the Nazis wrecked it for everyone. Just like the racist slave owners wrecked the Confederate flag.
