TODAY will be the longest day for the Harte and McAreavey families. Michaela, cruelly murdered on her honey-moon in Mauritius, is at last home with her beloved family.
She was being waked in the traditional way at the family home in Co Tyrone, surrounded by those who loved and admired her.
Her parents, brothers and husband, John McAreavey, were keeping vigil beside her, while accepting the condolences of hundreds of mourners.
Who can forget the sight of John wearing Michaela's wedding band and engagement ring around his neck as he brought her home, just two weeks after their wedding?
It is a sad, sad day for them, brightened only by the thought of Michaela's glowing smile and the shining legacy of love she leaves behind.
