A year ago, South Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae called on gun ownership laws to be relaxed in certain parts of the country, so that families in isolated areas could protect their homes.
Michael elucidated thus:“It’s no harm for these criminals to know that if they engage in this type of activity they may leave the home that they break into in a wooden box.” This week, Michael’s nephew Johnny was outraged that someone had shot pellets at his election poster.
“Someone could have been walking by,” said Johnny, “I hope they catch whoever it is.” And Johnny is absolutely right. The reckless use of guns is a scourge, and should be curbed at all costs.
Can you imagine how idiotic someone must be to encourage it?
