Letters: Rising matters
TV CRITIC George Byrne described the film Michael Collins by saying: "Neil Jordan's biopic of the IRA founder certainly has its moments, not least in its impressive opening which brings the terrorist uprising of 1916 to the screen", (Herald, March 13).
The Rising was suppressed after seven days of fighting, and its leaders were court-martialled and executed.
Mr Byrne should apologise for his choice of words, which denigrate these brave patriots who so honourably gave their lives for Irish Freedom.'
