Editorial: Tragic crash families in our thoughts
OUR worst fears have been realised as families today deal with the shock and heartbreak of yet another bank holiday weekend of tragic traffic accidents, bringing the total killed this year to 173.
Two young Dublin men were among the five people to be killed in a weekend of carnage on the roads.
Along with tragic Kelly Gregan's broken-hearted family, four other families have been plunged into despair. A man in his 60s was killed and two people in another car injured when the vehicles collided in Co Carlow at around 7.25am on Saturday.
Meanwhile, gardai in Donegal town are investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the Donegal bypass on Friday evening in which a man in his 60s, was fatally injured.
Our thoughts go out to those who have lost loved ones so tragically. And with the holiday weekend drawing to a close, let us hope those still to return home this evening do so safely.
