Cultural exchanges are always valuable and the plan to help Roma gypsies learn about the ways of Irish Travellers has merit in this light.

But the €76,000 cost of the FAS training plan will cause outrage in a cash-strapped economy.

At €108.20 a week per member, for a 44-week course, there must be a more creative and less expensive way to achieve this exchange.
