Editorial: Plucky birds raise a smile
OUR bizarre story of a troublesome cockerel, chucked off a Dublin farm for bad behaviour, is sure to raise a smile.
The rogue rooster then gathered a harem of hens, plucked from nearby estates and, having survived foxes, busy traffic and two harsh winter freezes, the feathered flock have been adopted by Skerries townsfolk as roadside mascots.
Now a film is being made about the birds and the place they have pecked for themselves in the community. It's a story of sheer pluck in the face of adversity.
