Editorial: Mum's plea for justice touches all

More shocking details are emerging of the murder of former soldier Warren O'Connor (24) in Dublin at the weekend. As we already know, he was stabbed in the chest with a bread knife when he came to the aid of a friend who was upset at noise levels in an apartment.

But the determination of his pursuers and attackers to inflict damage is truly chilling.

This was no five seconds or ten seconds of madness; Warren's car was rammed three times. People in the pursuing car had plenty of time to grasp what they were doing before the killing actually took place.

The victim had been a Defence Forces member and was about to join the Fire Service.

His distraught family have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

His mother's tearful appeal will have touched many. It is vital that the perpetrators be brought to justice as quickly as possible.
