Editorial: Disturbing shadow of CIRA evil
IT is a truly alarming development that the Continuity IRA has claimed to this newspaper to be behind a bomb at a west Dublin house. Gardai are trying to establish if the attack at a house in Finglas is linked to the dissident organisation.
Residents were put at risk of serious injury as a result of this device, and that is completely unacceptable.
What would have happened if a child had picked up the device which could have exploded in their face?
As it is, the device partially exploded in front of a property. The remainder was brought to Finglas Garda Station by a civilian and made safe.
It is a blessing that nobody was injured in this disturbing incident.
We thought we had left the bad old days of the Troubles behind us, but incidents like this are a worry for us all.
