Mortimer latest to join Parnell's

CONOR Mortimer is set to become the latest inter-county star to join Parnell's.

The Mayo forward, who missed the entire summer with a cruciate ligament injury, will transfer at the end of the current season in time to link up with his new team mates for the beginning of 2012.

Mortimer has already represented his native club, Shrule/Glencorrib, in the current Mayo championship, meaning he is ineligible to play for Parnell's in the 2011 Evening Herald Dublin SFC.

"Conor has moved up to Dublin and he is actually working in Dublin now," explained Parnell's chairman Frank Gleeson. "So it's 99 per cent that he will be with Parnell's for next season."

Over the past two years, the club - who meet St Sylvester's in the fourth round of the Dublin SFC - have attracted the talents of Laois seniors Colm Parkinson, Darren Rooney, Colm Begley and Michael John Tierney while Armagh's John Murtagh and Andreas Doyle of Wexford have also joined their ranks.

Mortimer will also join All-Ireland final hero Stephen Cluxton in Parnell's team currently managed managed by former Dublin selector Brian Talty.
