Anna Nolan: Good riddance to repulsive Sheen

Seeing as we are talking about putting your foot in it, it only seems right that we look at the tragic life of Mr Television USA, Charlie Sheen.

For too long, Sheen has been allowed to get his way with the Network that employed him.

He is a repulsive character who has been adored by his employers because of the success of his show, Two And A Half Men.

This high-rating blockbuster allowed Sheen to become the highest-paid television star in the States, being paid nearly $2m per episode. The show brought in about $155m a year. It also allowed the executives to turn a blind eye to his aggressive, drunken, drug-fuelled behaviour.

Sheen first caught my attention when he "accidentally" shot his fiancee in the arm back in the early Nineties.

Cocaine

Then he began injecting himself with cocaine and his relationship with rehab began. From then on, the media had lots to write about -- domestic violence, arrests, drug overdoses.

And meanwhile the execs of Two And A Half Men kept increasing his salary. Since the role was created in 2003, Charlie Sheen has been supported, adored and rewarded by those above him. Until now.

Charlie Sheen went on morning television last week and ripped the producer of the show, Chuck Lorre, to pieces, saying he had been treated badly. Get this for conceited. When asked if he was on drugs Sheen replied (with a straight face), "Yeah, I'm on a drug. It's called Charlie Sheen! It's not available, cos if you try it once, you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will die over your exploded body." He then went on to dismiss Alcoholics Anonymous and demanded an on-air pay rise to $3m per episode.

As someone once wrote, "If we're looking for the source of our troubles, we shouldn't test people for drugs, we should test people for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power".

Charlie Sheen and his executives allowed a greedy world to come before ethics, decency and human well-being. Let them torture themselves in their money-sodden world.

Melissa deserved her f-word Oscar slip-up

POOR Melissa Leo. The winner of the best actress Oscar slipped a naughty word into her acceptance speech.

She referred to Kate Winslet making her acceptance speech two years ago and how she made it look "so f***ing easy!"

It seems it is the first time the F-word was used at the Academy Awards. Ooh! Come on. Hollywood is really shocked by this? She won an OSCAR. if I'd won I'd be so *bleep*ing over the moon you'd need sunglasses my language would be so*bleep*ing colourful. Get over it, guys.

Ashley, just stick to shooting at the goal

SO, Ashley Cole, premiership footballer with the evident maturity of a five year old, reportedly shot a young work experience kid while messing around with a .22 air rifle in the dressing room.

First off, they shouldn't even have a sharp implement in a dressing room where each player's big toe is insured for £100,000, let alone the most powerful weapon outside of a conventional firearm.

Cole should be suspended -- just, er, not before tonight's Chelsea match against Manchester United.

Still, good shot Ashley. Shame your aim wasn't as good when you missed that crucial penalty against Everton last week.
