Zoo comes out on top of popular attractions
DUBLIN Zoo was the most popular place to visit in Ireland as it grew visitor numbers by almost 7pc last year.
The centre took top spot in Failte Ireland's listings for fee-paying attractions -- followed by the Guinness Storehouse.
The National Gallery of Ireland continued its dominance of the free attractions list -- recording over 736,000 visitors last year.
But Failte Ireland said that overall, visits to the top 10 fee- paying and top 10 free attractions fell by 2.6pc from 2009 to 2010.
Shaun Quinn, CEO Failte Ireland, said that set against a backdrop of a 10pc fall in overseas visitors in the same period, the performance by these attractions was actually quite good.
