ANY lender regulated by The Financial Regulator must adhere to a strict code of conduct in relation to contact with a consumer.
The lender may only make a personal visit to a consumer if that consumer has given informed consent to being contacted by the regulated entity.
They must obtain informed consent separately for each personal visit and must maintain a record of this consent.
Telephone contact may be made only between 9am and 9pm, Monday to Saturday, unless otherwise agreed.
The lender must agree to any request from a consumer not to make a personal visit or telephone contact to him or her again for sales and marketing purposes.
If the consumer feels they are subject to aggressive behaviour, MABS advises the consumer to contact the gardai.
