FANS of cult crime drama The Wire can look forward to a reunion of its big names in Ireland.
The stars of the hit HBO show are expected to meet up in the southwest this summer to attend the wedding of the show's star Detective Jimmy McNulty, played by Dominic West.
The acclaimed actor will be walking down the aisle with his long-term partner Catherine Fitzgerald, the daughter of Desmond Fitzgerald -- the Knight of Glin -- and his wife, Olda.
Olda Fitzgerald confirmed earlier that the wedding will be taking place in the luxurious castle in Glin, Co Limerick, on June 26. She has said that Dominic's co-stars were on the invitation list, injecting some Hollywood glamour into the small village.
West is no stranger to these shores as he studied in Trinity College after leaving the prestigious Eton school. And he has often been spotted by locals in the Glin area during his visits here.
As one of HBO's most widely praised productions, The Wire has secured a cult following in the US and abroad, and is considered one of the most popular shows here.
But in spite of his high-profile work, the humble star never has any airs or graces about him, according to locals.
Although the show has secured some of the most dedicated fans around, the star admitted he has no intention of taking on another gritty crime drama series.
"I got offered a lot of cop roles on television after The Wire, but it's a huge commitment and I've got children and I can't really live over there for any amount of time," he said.
