Gardai are investigating a shooting incident at a house in south Dublin in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The incident happened in the Brookview area of Tallaght just before 1am.

A number of shots were fired at the house, with what is believed to be a shotgun.

Panes of glass in the upstairs windows, as well as the living room window, were smashed in the terrifying attack.

It is understood that there were a number of people in the house at the time, but there were no reports of any injuries.

Gardai sealed off the house for a forensic examination.

No arrests have yet been made in the case, which gardai believe may be linked to a local dispute.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardai are investigating an incident on Brookview Close in Tallaght on August 1 at 1am where a number of shots were discharged.

"There were no injuries as a result. Inquiries are under way into the incident."

Sources say there is nothing to suggest the shooting is linked to a savage stabbing last week at nearby Brookview Drive, where a man suffered horrific injuries after being attacked in front of children.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward and anyone with information is asked to contact Tallaght gardai on 01 6666000.
