Widow to wake murder-suicide duo side-by-side
THE brothers-in-law who lost their lives in the country's latest murder-suicide will be waked side-by-side.
Grief-stricken Hilda Jordan has decided to hold a double wake for her husband and brother -- but they will be remembered at separate funeral services.
Hilda was today making funeral arrangements for her husband, Michael Jordan (63), and her brother, George Rothwell (69 - pictured).
Both men had been involved in a dramatic exchange of gunfire after a disagreement over farmland before Mr Rothwell was shot in the upper body at his home at Ballycormac, near Bagenalstown, Co Carlow.
It also emerged yesterday that Mr Jordan suffered from severe depression -- and friends said he had attempted to take his own life before. Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis completed post-mortems on the bodies of the two men yesterday evening.
The examinations revealed Mr Rothwell had been shot at least four times -- one of the gunshot wounds to his upper body was fatal.
Mr Jordan received no gunshot wounds but died from asphyxiation due to hanging.
