Whiskey sales to soar
IRISH whiskey sales are expected to shoot ahead of any competitors in the overseas spirits markets, according to new projections.
Global vintners body International Wine and Spirit Record outlines that there will be stronger anticipated growth for Irish whiskey, gaining as much as 100 million cases over the next five years.
Cathryn Hargan of Bord Bia's Consumer Foods Division said that although Irish whiskey in particular is forecast to achieve the highest growth rate in the sector, most of the growth in both whiskey and whisky is likely to come from the Indian market.
Overall, Irish beverage exports are estimated to have increased by 12pc in 2010, rising to €1.19bn overall.
