Whiskey medal haul

IRISH whiskey producer Cooley Distillery cleaned up with 16 medals in the International Wine & Spirits Competition.

The new owners of the group, Beam Inc, said that the distillery has now won an astonishing total of 43 IWSC gold medals over the last six years.

Just three years ago, Cooley was named the World Distiller of the Year.

The Irish whiskey category awarded the prizes to the Connemara Peated Single Malt, the Connemara Distiller's Edition and the Kilbeggan 18YO.

Nine of Beam's Irish whiskeys won silver outstanding commendations and a further four collected silver medals.
