SOCIALIST Party TD Ruth Coppinger has said that government ministers shouldn't be surprised when they're greeted by water protesters rather than "garlands and flowers" at events in disadvantaged areas.
Ms Coppinger said that she wanted to see the protests remain peaceful and that this has had the greatest impact on the Government's concessions on the hated charge.
But referring to protests where ministers have been targeted she said: "What do they expect?"
"We want to continue the protests. We want them to be kept peaceful.
"However when ministers arrive in their cars into very deprived areas, what do they expect? Garlands and flowers and red carpets?" Ms Coppinger said on RTE.
