Westlife star's dream home sells for €800,000
THE 'dream' family home singer Shane Filan was forced to vacate due to bankruptcy has been sold.
A wealthy foreign national splashed out €800,000 for the home, close to a new asking price but almost €200,000 less than the original sale price.
The palatial home of the bankrupt former Westlife star was initially put on the market for €990,000.
However, new estate agents Gunn Sligo relaunched the five-bedroom property in Carraroe, Co Sligo three months ago at offers over €800,000.
"The sale has been agreed. However, the new owner wishes to remain private," said estate agent David Reynolds.
It's understood the new multi- millionaire owner of 'Castledale' flew from abroad to view the property and sign the deal earlier this week.
The three-storey property comes complete with a lake, cinema, bar and a gym. It also has six bathrooms, a conservatory and a vast entertainment lounge on the third floor.
The impressive house was home to Filan and his young family - his childhood sweet-heart wife Gillian and their three children.
But they had to give up their home in 2012 when Filan filed for bankruptcy in the UK after his property companies collapsed.
He had set up a property company with his brother Finbar, trading as Shafin Developments.
It was placed in receivership in May 2012, and Filan filed for bankruptcy just a month later.
The singer and his family now live in Surrey in England.
He has embarked on a new solo career, and has made an agreement with the banks that a certain proportion of all his future earnings will be handed over to creditors.
"The house sale is the end of a chapter," said a close friend.
