We're like zombies since baby arrived, says Donal
Celebrity chef Donal Skehan has said he and his wife Sofie have felt "like zombies" since welcoming their first baby over two weeks ago.
The Howth-born cook, who's now based in LA, said they're getting no sleep as they look after newborn Noah Ziggy, but that they're loving every minute of it.
In a post about how he's finding fatherhood, he revealed the sleep deprivation has hit him hard.
"Feel like you all warned us about the lack of sleep but did we listen? Of course not. Have been like zombies most of the first 14 days but clambering back little bits of sleep where we can," he said.
"Little Noah makes up for every minute though."
He said that he's "so in awe" of his little son as he looks ahead to his first Christmas as a dad.
The young family will celebrate December 25 in their new home of LA and have invited both sets of parents over to spend the holiday in the sunshine.
The chef even made sure to stock the freezer full of meals in an effort to be super-prepared during the early stages of their baby's life.
Their new arrival certainly kept them waiting and was more than a week overdue when Sofie gave birth on December 2.
Proud father Donal said that his other half "rocked it with Swedish Viking strength, for a natural birth".
He said he was now ready for a "whole new world of adventures".
The pair moved to Los Angeles last year to build Donal's profile in America as he flies the flag for Ireland in the culinary world.
Donal first met Sofie in 2006 when she was visiting his home town of Howth and the pair married in Lisnavagh House, Co Carlow, in June 2015.
