Well done to Best Dub

Those behind the reckless derailment of a Dart train on Tuesday night should face the full force of the law.

The incident, which saw a large capping stone deliberately dropped on to the tracks between Bray and Greystones, derailed a train that was carrying 33 passengers at the time.

Had the train been travelling faster or had it derailed in a different manner the situation could have been far more grave.

Iarnrod Eireann and the gardai have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the Dart has been impacted by mindless acts of vandalism.

Indeed, barely a month passes without significant delays to services due to a criminal act - often damage being caused to overhead lines.

But this week's incident is the most serious, and was the first derailment of a Dart train. The perpetrators must be caught and prosecuted - to deter others.

Congratulations to Bobby Shane Gileece, who was last night crowned 'Best Dub' in the 98fm Best of Dublin Awards.

Bobby is a GAA fanatic who's never missed a Dublin game, and is well-known on The Hill for a tattoo of Dublin landmarks down his right arm. Well done, Bobby.
