Vodafone trade falls

MOBILE operator Vodafone recorded a fall in turnover in the final quarter of the year.

However, the figures were in line with other mobile phone companies in the Irish market.

The British group remains the dominant player in the market and now expects adjusted operating profit for the year to end-March to be towards the upper end of its previously stated £11.8 billion (€13.85bn) to £12.2bn (€14.4bn) range.

Nearly one in two of all devices sold in December 2010 were smartphones, it said. However the average revenue per user fell by 6.9% (€34.90).
