Vodafone insists tax paid

MOBILE phone company Vodafone has insisted that it paid 25pc tax in Ireland on profits from royalty payments through its Irish subsidy.

It followed revelations earlier this week that it made a settlement with the UK revenue authorities in 2009, which included claiming back €67m from the Irish Exchequer.

The money was originally paid as tax in Ireland, but was supposed to be paid in the UK.
