Viewers prefer TV to partner
More than one in 10 telly addicts would rather give up their partner than their TV, a new survey has found.
Over half admitted watching television was an integral part of their lives.
A fifth reached for the remote control first thing in the morning and 15pc left the TV on overnight.
According to the study, 29pc admitted they had the TV on for company, with 37pc leaving it on for up to four hours each day.
Around 42pc said they watched TV as a way to relax after a stressful day.
Thai film wins Palme d'Or

The actress (18) was thrilled to be handed the ruby slippers first made famous by Judy Garland after being crowned the winner of BBC1's popular talent show.
"It's just incredible, my feet haven't touched the ground. With a few early nights in my pyjamas I might come back down to earth. Everything has moved so fast," she said.
