A YOUNG man who smashed up a van with a traffic cone had drunk nearly a bottle of vodka at the time, a court heard.
Andrew Brien (22) caused more than €800 worth of damage to the van, but has no memory of what he did.
Judge Clare Leonard ordered a probation report and adjourned sentencing to a date in September.
The defendant, of Rollins Court in Sallynoggin, admitted before Dun Laoghaire District Court to charges of public drunkenness and criminal damage. The incident took place at Pearse Street in Sallynoggin at about 3.30am on November 20 last year.
