Two bombs found in North

Two explosive devices have been discovered during a police search in the North.

A number of homes were evacuated after the "viable devices" were found at a property in Donegall Avenue, south Belfast, police said.

Army bomb experts made the devices safe.

A spokeswoman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said the operation was part of a continuing investigation into serious crime.



I've got cancer, says Hagman

Actor Larry Hagman has been diagnosed with cancer.

The 80-year-old actor, who played JR Ewing in the TV series Dallas, said: "As JR I could get away with anything -- bribery, blackmail and adultery. But I got caught by cancer."

Hagman declined to say what kind of cancer he had contracted, but said it was "a very common and treatable form".

He said he would continue working on the revived version of Dallas, adding: "As we all know, you can't keep JR down!"



Hot-dog seller 'sold firearms'

A hot-dog seller offered undercover officers more than just mustard, ketchup and relish on the side, according to California police.

Jose Gilberto Ortiz (58) appeared in US District Court in San Jose accused of selling firearms to the officers from his hot-dog stand.

His partner, 23-year-old Guillermo Gonzalez Castillo, who also appeared on weapons charges, is additionally accused of selling the San Jose police officers methamphetamine.



Rapper Ross in seizure scare

Rapper Rick Ross was reportedly hospitalised in Alabama after suffering two medical scares in six hours that required planes to be diverted.

The first scare came yesterday afternoon as Ross was on a Delta Air Lines flight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Memphis, Tennessee.

The plane returned to Florida after Ross suffered an unspecified medical problem.

Local TV in Memphis reported that Ross suffered a second medical seizure and had been hospitalised.
