TV3's Anna is a force to be reckoned with as she becomes a garda for a day
ANNA Daly in a garda uniform and heels is not your average day on Ireland AM but the seasoned host carried off the garda get-up with aplomb.
"I cheated on the shoes, I dodged the flat brogues and kept the heels on in an effort to glamorise the uniform," she joked.
"It's not the most flattering of uniforms, I feel, for female guards.
"The trousers are really wide; they're like '70s'-style palazzo pants."
Anna was broadcasting from the set of Red Rock yesterday to mark the show's season finale.
"I was mortified when they asked me to wear the uniform at first, but then I just thought why not - you might as well get into the spirit of things," she admitted.
She enjoyed dipping her stiletto-clad toes into the world of soap land however.
"I've told the executive producer I'd love a walk-on part when the show returns in September," she told the Herald.
The mum-of-two said that she would make a "very stern" member of the garda force but added she would need to work on her cross face.
"I'd have to give up the heels if I wanted to chase criminals down dark alleys," she said.
Her early morning gig with TV3 certainly keeps her on the move - next week she will jet to Paris for an interview with the cast of Orange is the New Black.
"Ireland AM is a monster of a show, it's just non-stop. It's a fast turnaround.
"It really is a juggernaut of a show and it's getting bigger and bigger all the time," she said.
But she might not be on our screens at the crack of dawn forever. The Dubliner has previously admitted she'd love a shot at a later slot.
"There'll be loads of great opportunities coming up in TV3 soon so watch this space - hopefully," she said.
The hard-working mum has two sons at home, James (3) and Euan (2).
"I'm trying to juggle it all and strike a balance, which doesn't happen every week," she revealed.
