Trial for two men accused of seizing taxi

TWO men who allegedly forced a taxi driver out of his vehicle are facing trial on the charge.

Ross Cahill (21) and Andrew Byrne (27) were allegedly armed with a knife when they forced the taxi driver out of the silver Renault.

Judge David McHugh adjourned the matters to September for the book of evidence.

Mr Cahill, of Hazel Grove, Portrane Road, Donabate, and Mr Byrne, of Fortlawn Avenue, Clonsilla, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with seizing a 2008-registered vehicle at Laurel Lodge Road, Castleknock, on May 8.

Sgt Maria Callaghan said the DPP has directed trial on indictment in the Circuit Court on the charge, where the penalties upon conviction are more severe.
