the new film starring Michael Fassbender, Brendan Gleeson and Killian Scott is already attracting significant international attention.
The trio have been lined up to play a clan of Irish Travellers who wreak havoc in the British countryside.
And as if the impressive line-up of stars wasn’t enough, music giants The Chemical Brothers will write and perform the score for Trespass Against Us.
There has already been a fierce bidding war for distribution rights, and the movie has now been pre-bought by Australian group Umbrella Entertainment.
Fassbender takes on the role of Chad Cutler. The rowdy Cutler family live as outlaws in some of Britain’s richest countryside, ram-raiding stately homes, taunting the police and hunting hares.
Chad is caught between his father’s archaic principles and trying to do right by his children while the full force of the law is slowly catching up with him.
English actors Lindsey Marshall from The Hours, Rory Kinnear from Skyfall and Sean Harris from Prometheus also star. Filming is expected to get under way in the UK in the coming months.
Trespass Against Us is being developed in association with Film4 with funding from the British Film Institute and LipSync.
Fassbender is currently lighting up the big screen as Magneto in X-Men, but he recently admitted he often dreamed of pursuing another career.
“In my fantasy world I’d be a Formula One driver in the early 80s. That would be pretty cool,” he said. “But in reality, if I wasn’t an actor I’d probably be working behind a bar.”
