Comedian Tommy Tiernan and presenter Hector Ó hEochagáin are TV viewers' most-wanted double act if an Irish version of Celebrity Gogglebox was to be filmed, a survey has found.
The childhood friends from Navan, Co Meath, were judged to be the most likely pair to engage television audiences if they were to appear on the hit reality show together.
The survey of 1,000 adults revealed that 13pc would like to see the pair in the show that follows families and friends across Ireland giving their views on popular TV programmes.
The show, which airs on Virgin Media One, is now in its sixth season.
Comedian Brendan O'Carroll and the cast of Mrs Brown's Boys came in second with 11pc of respondents favouring the fictional Finglas family.
They were followed by Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and his partner Dr Matthew Barrett with 10pc eager to see them give their views on Irish television.
However, when it comes to household names in the RTÉ stable, viewers were not so impressed, the survey showed.
Only 1pc of respondents said they would like to see Today Show presenters Dáithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane on the Gogglebox couch.
Sports pundits Eamon Dunphy and John Giles fared mildly better with 2pc of the votes.
The survey was commiss- ioned by the online lottery site Lottoland Ireland to gauge what people are thinking as we stay at home during the Covid-19 lockdown.
"As we near peak TV viewing season, one of the breakout TV sensations of recent years, Gogglebox, continues to amuse audiences on both sides of the Irish Sea," said Graham Ross of Lottoland.
"And while we all have our favourite couch surfers on the Irish edition, it was fascinating to see who the Irish public favoured on our list of dream celebrity families and groupings that they'd most like to spy on during an evening of TV watching."
