Three times the charm as girl group Lir aim for Euro glory
Ireland's newest girl band Lir want to represent Ireland at next year's Eurovision song contest.
The group is made up of You're A Star winner Leanne Moore, The Voice of Ireland contestant Kim Hayden, and model Michelle McGrath.
The three gorgeous girls have joined forces in the hopes of bringing something new to the Eurosong contest.
"It's something different as an entry for Eurovision, because I don't think a girl band have ever entered before," Kim told the Herald.
"We all had songs sent into us individually and then (songwriter) Alan Earls sent us this song, and we didn't even want to hear anything else after that. The lyrics of his song just really suits what we're going for."
Leanne (30), who is dating Tallafornia star Dave Behan, first made a name for herself when she won RTE talent show You're A Star in 2008.
She has graced the Eurovision stage as a backing singer on three occassions but it chomping at the bit to get out and represent Ireland as part of a girl band again.
"We literally all met up to chat about Eurosong the week before RTE put out the release to say they would be open for applications from the public," Leanne said. "It was all very good timing."
"We have to go for it, the chance to represent your country - that's amazing," she added.
Redhead Kim is best known for starring in The Voice of Ireland back in 2012. The Bray native was picked by Sharon Corr, and has since duetted with Paddy Casey on his song Out of Control. The third member of Lir is Dubliner Michele McGrath (28), who previously entered the charts with Irish band Industry - along with chef Donal Skehan. She is the other half of MMA fighter Cathal Pendred.
Lir will be competing against X-Factor star Mary Byrne, who has recorded a song written by Alan Hughes' husband Karl Broderick.
This year the Eurosong competition will be hosted by Nicky Byrne in a similar format to RTE talent show The Hit - after the Late Late Show selection process got scrapped.
