Three held as gardai find €350k of ecstasy

GARDAI have seized a €350,000 haul of ecstasy tablets and arrested three men in an operation in Co Kildare.

The arrests were made yesterday evening after a search of an "open area" at Maganey, Castledermot, a garda spokesman said.

The garda search operation took place at around 6.30pm and the three Irish men were detained at the same time.

The suspects, aged 26, 27, and 31, are being held in three separate garda stations in Co Kildare - Athy, Kildare and Newbridge.

They are being held under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act and can be detained for up to seven days for questioning.

The ecstasy tablets are believed to have a street value of €350,000, subject to analysis, a garda spokesman said.
