Thief was drunk while driving to AA meeting

A MAN caught drink driving on his way to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting has been given a four-month suspended sentence and disqualified from driving for three years.

Prezemyslaw Kutak (42) has also been convicted and fined a total of €300 for the theft of bottles of wine from a Lusk supermarket on two different occasions.

Kutak of Baker's Close in Lusk pleaded guilty at Balbriggan District Court to drink driving/attempting to drive on October 29 at Dublin Street in Balbriggan. He further pleaded guilty to the theft of six bottles of wine valued at €48 from Supervalu on Station Road in Lusk on September 22.

He also pleaded guilty to the theft of two bottles of wine valued at €16 from the same supermarket on September 27.

Inspector Declan Yates gave evidence that Kutak was driving a silver BMW in an erratic manner and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He gave a breath sample of 103mg/100ml.

He also gave evidence that Kutak had stolen the bottles of wine from Supervalu on two separate occasions. Kutak has one previous road traffic conviction.
