Thief sold iPad for €50 drugs

A DRUG addict who snatched a woman's iPad was so desperate he swapped it for two deals of heroin, a court heard.

Peter Omedele (36) stole the €700 iPad from the victim's handbag in a coffee shop, then sold it for two bags of the drug -- worth around €50.

A week later he was caught shoplifting a pair of sunglasses from a Dublin city centre store.

He was jailed for six months when he admitted stealing it.

Omedele, of Georgian Court B&B, Gardiner Street, pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to theft at Starbucks, Dawson Street, on May 3 last and Boots, Henry Street, on May 10.
