Tevez facing 38mph charge
Manchester City footballer Carlos Tevez was due to go on trial over driving matters today.
The Argentinian striker was accused of failing to disclose the identity of the driver of his Bentley Continental car, which was allegedly clocked speeding at 38mph in a 30mph zone in Stretford, Manchester, on February 12. He has pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Tevez (27) of Prestbury, Cheshire, did not attend the last hearing at Oldham Magistrates' Court last week, when the matter was adjourned until today.
Man died in row over club prices
A British man killed in a drunken brawl after claiming he was "ripped off" by the cost of drinks at a lap-dancing club on the French Riviera was an ex-soldier.
Lee Elton Fisher (37) became enraged by the prices at the club before he stormed out to confront a man handing out promotional fliers. A row broke out and Mr Fisher, who was married and served in Iraq and Afghanistan, was later punched in the face.
He collapsed on the road in the exclusive resort of Cannes in the early hours of Monday morning. Three French men between the ages of 25 and 30 were held by police over the attack and were due in court.
