Tests to be carried out on clothing found in Co Offaly which may be linked to Kildare murder

Vilma Stoskus, mother of Silvestras, with his missing poster at her Kinnegad, Co. Kildare home last night.

Tests are to be carried out on items of clothing that may be linked to the murder of Silvestras Stoskus.

The items were discovered in a laneway close the Grand Canal in Edenderry, Co Offaly, last night.

The items were found a day after the body of the 20-year-old was discovered in a field in Co Kildare.

Gardai officially upgraded their investigation into the death of Mr Stoskus into a murder enquiry following a post mortem on his remains yesterday.

The post mortem established that he died from head injuries.

It is believed he was killed elsewhere and his body dumped in a field some 48 hours before it was discovered by a farmer.

Detectives are investigating whether Mr Stoskus, nicknamed 'Twiggy', was murdered over a drugs debt.

His unclothed body was found in a field in Cornamucklagh, Broadford, Co Kildare, on Wednesday afternoon. He had been reported missing by his family who live in Kinnegad, Co Westmeath.
