Tesco sales down 4pc
SUPERMARKET chain Tesco sales in Ireland plummeted by almost 4pc within just four months.
The company said that it is continuing to struggle in recession-hit Ireland, although there was increased growth across Central Europe and beyond.
Sales in Ireland fell by 3.9pc compared with a fall of 0.2pc in the previous quarter. The largest group of its kind in Ireland and Britain said that customers are cautious and many are shopping on a smaller budget due to fuel prices.
Separate figures released by Kantar Worldpanel show that Tesco in Ireland is showing growth slightly ahead of the market, posting an increase in market share from 27.1pc last year to 27.3pc.
