Teen took wallet in a ‘moment of madness’

A TEENAGER who took a woman’s wallet as she sat beside him on a bus stole it in a “moment of madness”, a court heard.

Conor Lee (19) had just had a fight with his girlfriend and was “not thinking clearly”.

Judge Ann Watkin told him she would leave him without a conviction if he paid €200 to charity.

Lee, with an address at Cashel Road, Crumlin, pleaded guilty to theft of the wallet at Rathgar Road, Rathmines on January 22 last.

Dublin District Court heard when the victim realised her wallet was gone, she spoke to the accused who handed it back.

Lee has no prior convictions of any kind.

He had a fight with his girlfriend on their anniversary and the theft was a “moment of madness”, his lawyer said.
