A 14-YEAR-OLD boy's prosecution for knife possession and assault has been dropped.
The boy had been charged earlier at the Dublin Children's Court with assaulting another male in Lucan, in Dublin in April last year, when he was aged 13. He also faced another charge of having a knife as a weapon.
Special directions were sought from the DPP, in light of the west Dublin boy's age.
He appeared at Dublin Children's Court again yesterday where Judge John Coughlan heard that the prosecution was applying for the case to be struck out.
