Teen hit rival in row over pitch
A TEENAGER attacked another boy during a row about using a football pitch.
The 16-year-old pleaded guilty to assaulting the boy, also in his teens, at a pitch in Blanchardstown in Dublin, on April 21 last. He was bound to the peace.
Dublin Children's Court heard that the defendant had been playing with his friends when a second group approached and asked to take a turn on the pitch.
A row broke out and the victim was "punched and head-butted by the accused".
The victim was also "pulled to the ground and punched several times" but was not left with any injuries.
Crash driver's six days in car
one person was found dead and another alive after two cars plunged 200ft off a mountain road.
Family members found the survivor, a man, at the scene in California after conducting their own search.
It is feared he may have been stranded in the vehicle for up to six days.
The crash occurred about one and a half miles south of Warm Springs Rehabilitation, a drug and alcohol abuse centre.
Police raped Untouchables
Seventeen police and forest officials have been convicted of gang raping a group of tribal villagers in India.
Another 100 officials were found guilty of brutally beating dozens of people in the southern state of Tamil Nadu in 1992.
The victims were members of the Untouchables caste.
The incident occurred as officials raided Vachathi village to search for smuggled sandalwood. No sentences were passed.
Brand is first guest for Rosie
US TV host Rosie O'Donnell has got her wish -- Russell Brand will be the first guest on her new talk show.
The Oprah Winfrey Network said the comedian and actor would appear on the October 10 premiere of The Rosie Show.
O'Donnell has said she is fascinated with Brand and called him a genius.
She previously said she would love to have him as her first guest.
The show will air on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
