A 17-YEAR-OLD Dublin boy with 52 criminal convictions, who believed "there was no incentive in keeping out of trouble", has been detained for breaking into cars.
At Dublin's Children's Court the north inner city boy received a one-month term on top of an existing 16-month sentence he was already serving after he pleaded guilty to criminal damage and one charge of unlawfully getting into a car.
The court heard that on May 21 last, the boy, who had developed a drink and drug problem, broke a car window at Royal Canal Bank, in Dublin.
His 49 previous convictions motor theft, criminal damage, trespassing, burglary and public order offences.
